Snails eating annuals
Q. I have annuals which are being eaten by snails. What can I use to control them that will not hurt my cat?
A. As long as your cat is a responsible drinker, I would suggest the beer trick. Take an empty food can and place it in the ground near the plant. Make sure that the rim is even with the soil surface. Fill to the brim with the beer. The snails will be attracted, fall in and drown. If the beer disappears, have a talk with the cat.
