Snails disturbing the balm

Q.  There are small holes in the leaves of my basil and lemon balm. What is happening?

 A.    The basil and lemon balm are being eaten by snails that are active at night. Use snail bait or beer to control them.

 Q.  While in my yard I saw a bird trying to chase a squirrel out of its nest. What was the squirrel up to?

 A.  It has been documented that squirrels will eat fledgling birds from time to time. This could be the answer or it may have simply been a neighbor dispute.
