When is watermelon ripe?

 Q:  How can I tell when a watermelon is ready to be picked?

 A:  Look where the stem attaches to the top of the melon. Look for the tendril on the vine closest to the watermelon. When this tendril is not green and is declining the melon is ready to harvest.

Q: When turning my garden, how much organic matter should be added?

 A: Place up to six inches of leaves, compost, manure or other matter on the garden and then mix it into the existing soil.
