Sunflowers and watermelon

Q:  A perfect circle that is slightly over an inch in diameter is missing from the rind of one of my watermelons. The meat does not seem to be missing. What would take a piece of rind from a watermelon?

 A: This was probably done by a raccoon. By removing a plug from the rind the meat of the melon ferments faster and raccoons seem to prefer this taste.

 Q:  Will the dwarf sunflower send out other plants?

 A:  They tend to be solitary plants. Some will branch to make a full plant with several flowering heads.
