St. Anastasia concert slated

SAINT AUGUSTINE – The 11th year of St. Anastasia Catholic Church’s concert series which begins Oct. 17 according to Peter Morin, Director of Music and Liturgy at the island church. The church is located at 5705 A1A South on Anastasia Island.

This year’s series will be filled with talented performers—and challenges. Seating will be limited to conform to COVID-19 regulations, but with a church built to seat more than 1600, there will be room for many.

The opening concert will celebrate the past 10 years of music-making at St. Anastasia with guest performers Carolyn Brown, Joe Colsant, Lisa Lockhart, and Barbara Van Rysdam. Violinist Helen Morin and organist, Peter Morin along with singers from the parish choirs will also perform.

The program will feature sacred vocal works including Ave Maria, Panis Angelicus and others.Peter Morin will perform organ masterpieces including Bach’s Passacaglia and Fugue in c minor, Widor’s Toccata from Symphony V, and Vierne’s Carillon de Westminster.

The performance begins at 7 p.m. in. Admission and parking are free. Free will donations will be accepted to offset stipend and concert series expenses. There will be no intermission and the concert will last about one hour.
To conform to the virus restrictions and regulations, it will be necessary for attendees to print out free tickets from the Eventbrite website starting October 1. To obtain tickets, go to saccfl.org/concertseries.
Individual tickets are not required. One ticket is good for an entire party of household members or close friends not to exceed 8 individuals. Each party will be required to follow the direction of ushers for seating appropriate to party size. Attendees might not be able to select exactly where they sit as the size of eligible seating areas differs throughout the church.
All attending the concert will be required to wear face masks. The performances will also be streamed making use of a new video system recently installed in the church. The concert can be viewed from home at https://saccfl.org/stanastasiaconcertseries/
Future concerts planned this year include the Kinne Piano Trio celebrating Beethoven on November 7 and A Living Nativity and Christmas concert on December 20.
